Google Sheets
Google Sheets alternative — or a live Google Sheets destination? ARLO is both
If your clients already live in a shared Google Sheet, the rest of this page shows how ARLO writes clean rows into it on a schedule. But if you're evaluating whether Sheets should be the reporting workflow at all: a client reporting sheet usually means stitching together exports, Zapier, or an Apps Script per source, formulas that break when a column shifts, and someone remembering to refresh it before the call. ARLO can still push rows into Sheets on your cadence (that's the rest of this page) — or you can skip the sheet altogether and just ask Claude the number.
| Google Sheets | ARLONo dashboard to build | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Build formulas + pull data per source (export, Zapier, or Apps Script) | Ask Claude — or pick a template, no formulas to maintain |
| Refresh | Someone re-pulls it, or a script that breaks silently | Scheduled push on your cadence, or live on every question |
| Multi-client scale | A sheet — and its formulas — to copy and maintain per client | Assign accounts per client inside one connection |
| Ad-hoc questions | Limited to whatever columns are already in the sheet | Any question, in plain English |
| Cost | Free, but the glue (Zapier, exports, Apps Script) often isn't | Free to start, live queries included |
| Skill required | Spreadsheet formulas, or scripting for automation | Plain English |
Skip Google Sheets when
- ✓You want the number, not a spreadsheet to maintain and debug
- ✓You don't want to own a Zapier/Apps Script pipeline just to keep a sheet current
- ✓Clients ask questions the sheet's current columns don't answer
Keep Google Sheets when
- —Your team or client genuinely wants a shared, editable, always-open sheet
- —You're layering manual analysis or formulas on top of the raw numbers
- —Sheets is already the system of record other tools in your stack read from
